Well, inside anyway!  HAHA!!

It is raining today, so Tex and I took time inside the RV this morning and washed it from top to bottom.  It really needed it after our crazy week at the Good Sam Samboree last week.  We didn't have any time to clean during the week, so after 3 dogs in an out of the dirt and gravel all the time, it was looking pretty bad.

It looks GREAT now!  All sparkling clean!

How many of you have started your Christmas shopping?  It is only 9 weeks until Christmas so you may want to start thinking about it.  Since Megan and Aaron live so far away, I have to send their packages very early, as in SOON!  It can sometimes take 2 months or more to get a box to her so I really need to get it in the mail in the next week or so.  I still have some shopping to do for them, so I need to get very busy next week!

Amanda and I made some wedding plans this week. She met with a cake decorator and order the cake and cupcakes.  She met with a photographer as well.  Amanda also made several decorations for the reception and they are all so cute!  No sneak peaks though!  You have to wait until May 2014!!

I am also working on sending Megan's wedding dress off to get cleaned and preserved.  It is truly filthy after taking pics on the tundra and riding off on their Honda 4 wheeler.

Due to Tex's bad back, we switched out the memory foam RV mattress with Amanda's more firmer mattress today.  She loves the softer mattress anyway, so it is a win-win for everyone.  If this helps his back on our next trip, then we will sell our King memory foam mattress in our bedroom and buy a firmer mattress for home.

Our next trip is November 6-9 to Thackerville, OK.  Our Good Sam Chapter is teaming up with the Heartland Brand RV Club and will be having a joint Rally at the Winstar Casino and RV Park.  We have never been to this casino or to a Heartland Rally so we are very excited!  It can't come soon enough!

Tonight I leave you with a pic of our three cocker spaniels, Elsie Mae, Chloe and Bonnie.  We recently had our windows open enjoying the cool Fall air and they all wanted to be in the window.  Chloe, the biggest one, thought she could fit on the window sill.  She was a little too big but made a valiant effort!

Elsie Mae on the left, Chloe in center and Bonnie on right.  Elsie Mae and Bonnie are litter mates
and Chloe is 2 years younger, no relation.

Until next time....

So Tired!

Hi everyone!

Tex and I had such a great time at the Samboree last week that we have gone to bed early every night this week!  I even slept 15 hours Sunday night and only woke up once.  I usually wake up every hour, so this should tell you something.  I have many health issues and I am always tired, but I usually don't sleep very good, so it felt kinda strange to wake up after being asleep so long.

This is a pic of how we all looked this week.  Elsie Mae is missing from the pic but you get the idea.  Even the dogs were exhausted.  They had such a great time watching all the comings and goings from the RV dash last week that they missed their daytime naps.

I have spent this week working on wedding plans with Amanda.  Our youngest daughter is getting married next May so while she is off from teaching for Fall Break, we took the time to make some plans.  We have ordered the cake and cupcakes and have talked to a long time friend (more like family) about Bridal portraits and photography at the wedding.  Amanda even did some crafts, making signs and wreaths for decorations.

I have also been busy downloading over 1,200 pics from the Samboree and posting them on different FB pages for people to see.  I still need to send them to a few people, so if you are waiting on me, I will get them to you the first of next week!  Sorry!

Tex has been extremely busy at work, spending half days (HAHA!  12 hours) at work struggling with the Tuition Assistance Budget for the U.S. Coast Guard.  He comes home extremely tired.  He did mow the front and back yard last night, which takes a few hours because we have half an acre, but he is still exhausted.

Guess I will cut this short today, but before I go, I give you a pic of Chloe, just after a bath - which she hates!  This pretty much sums up how I felt this week.  LOL!

Til next time!

Boy am I tired!

Tex and I were at the Oklahoma Good Sam Samboree last week and had so much fun!

Tex played horseshoes (and lost to someone almost twice his age!), and we both played Sandbag Baseball.  If you have never played this game, then you are missing out!  It is loads of fun!  My team came in 4th place.  Tex's team was really bad, so they were at the bottom of the point list!

Elsie Mae, Bonnie and Chloe were entered in the Best Costume Pet Contest but sadly they didn't win.

They had a great time though and behaved so well!  We were really proud of them!  And all dogs got a treat bag when the parade was over.  Next year, we plan to dress them up according to the Samboree Theme.  It should be a lot of fun!

We also attended seminars about RV maintenance and enjoyed lots of entertainment!  There were all kinds of indoor and outdoor games to play.  Craft projects as well as vendors selling RV related wares.

Line dancing lessons and nightly dancing was very popular.

There was also a very moving tribute to our Nation's POW/MIA.  If you have never seen a POW/MIA Table Ceremony, please go to this link, which will explain it in detail.

I was honored to attend dinner with this couple and talk to them for just a few minutes.  What an amazing man!

There was nightly entertainment, such as this Country and Western singer, Cliff Shelder, who was AMAZING!

And the Big Band Era of the Kings of Music!

There were a ton of door prizes every night!  We won a $20 gift certificate to Sams Club and $10 cash from Steward Rentals in Claremore, OK.  We also won a bucket full of miscellaneous items worth of $50.  There were also 50/50 raffles as well as a beautiful quilt with the Pledge of Allegiance words sewn on.  We played Bingo on several days but we never won.

There were two large Cake Walks going on at the same time!  It was a sight to see!  Tex and I played, but we didn't win a cake.  Bummer!

There was also a time when you could sign up to sell your extra items at the Swap Meet.  We didn't buy anything but there was a lot of great stuff!

At the end of the Samboree, there were many different Awards given out.  There were awards for attendance, Best Chapter Scrapbook and Chapter of the Year.

But, Let me tell you, these folks can really put on a show.  The Costume Contest on the last night was truly amazing!  The theme was Once Upon A Time and there contest for Individuals, Couples and Chapters.

On Sunday morning, before everyone left for the year, there was Sunday Worship and Memorial Service.  At this service, they remember 28 members who have passed away in the past year.  A candle was lit for each person by their loved one or someone from their local Good Sam Chapter.

It was a great Samboree!  I will give you info about next year in an upcoming post.  If you are interested in attending and want more info, just comment and leave me your contact info.

Would love to hear your thoughts and comments!

Till next time....

Oklahoma Good Sam Samboree

Hi friends and family!

Tex and I and the girls are here in Claremore, Oklahoma to attend our FIRST Good Sam Samboree!  Good Sam is an RV Club and every state has a bunch of Chapters that you can join and have fun making friends who share a common bond of RV traveling.  Each state has a rally (called a Samboree) each year and it brings the chapters from across the state as well as Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana and several other states together for lots of fun!

Tex and I have not yet joined a local chapter but we have been Good Sam Life members since 2009.  Since our travel time is limited until Tex retires, we have always just traveled by ourselves or with our friends.

Timing worked out this week so that Tex could get off during the Oklahoma Good Sam Samboree.  We have never attend any kind of rally so we thought we could come, check it out, meet some new people and see if there was a local Chapter from OKC that we clicked with and possibly join.

We met some wonderful people the first two days already.  On Monday night, we went and played cards with a group of people from Arkansas.  They were lots of fun!

There is a program of events today through Sunday with everything from seminars, games, line dancing, crafts, bingo, shopping and more.

This Samboree is at Will Rogers Downs horse racetrack, Casino and KOA in Claremore, Oklahoma.  It is a really nice place.  We are currently parked up against the race track so we get a first hand view of the race starts and all that goes on behind the scenes.  We have learned so much already!

Leave us a comment!  We would love to hear from you!

Hi Family and Friends!

Thank you for stopping by our brand new blog!  This is Susan and I will be doing all of the posts.  I really have no idea what I am doing so please bear with me as I start this blog.

I plan to chronicle our lives and travels in our Newmar Ventana RV.  We love to travel and see as much of the beautiful USA as we can.  As you are probably aware, Tex doesn't retire until 2017, so until then, our travels will be limited.  Once he retires, we plan to travel for 6 months of the year, at least!

Along with Tex and I, are our 3 crazy cocker spaniels, Elsie Mae, Bonnie and Chloe and our 16 year old cat, Sweet Pea.  April, our beloved chocolate lab, went to Heaven in August, so she travels with us in our hearts.

We hope you enjoy our travels!

Bees, Bees and more Bees!

Hi friends!

On Saturday, Oct. 12th, Tex and I and the 3 pups left Mustang and headed for the Oklahoma Good Sam Samboree that is being held at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, OK.  We thought we would have a quiet 2 hour ride but boy were we wrong!

We were only about 10 minutes away from home when all of a sudden we heard "POW POW POW"! We thought it was gun shots but we quickly realized we had driven right into a HUGE swarm of bees!!  The bees were splattered over the whole RV windshield so thick, we could hardly see!  We knew that the whole front of the RV was covered as well.  Some of the dead bees were still stuck on too!

We had to drive a few minutes to find a parking lot big enough for us to get in.  We finally found a spot and got outside to inspect the carnage.  Pictures just don't do it justice!

Thank goodness we travel with water on board!  We got out our fold-a-way bucket and our extend-a-pole brush and filled the bucket with water.  It took a while but we finally got most of the bees and honey off of the RV.  We still had about 20-30 bees swarming around us as we washed the dead ones off.  It was such a mess!

It wasn't long though before we had hit several other bugs and the windshield was filthy again.  Not unusual when traveling in such a large vehicle.  When we got to the Will Rogers Downs KOA RV Park, we got out our bucket and filled it with soap and water and really cleaned the front of the RV.  What a crazy day!

Megan was married on Sept 1st.  She and her husband now live in Seattle, WA.  They just had our first grandson on July 10th.

Amanda teaches school in OKC and was recently married on May 17, 2014.
